Michael Praed Painting Techniques
The painting takes place on board which can withstand sanding and scraping and the painting technique. Shape and textures are applied to the surface with conte crayon and dry pastels added to the layers of painting to become on and the same. The layers of paintwork are allowed to dry before further layers are built up. Line is re-etched in to the paintwork and the technique continues until the desired effect is reached.
Mixed media, a comprising of Gouache and pastel, are applied to a paper surface in a similar process to oils and finally the surface is fixed and the work protected by a glass frame.
